May 2013 news (Second part)

Ray Harryhausen (1920-2013)

As you may know, last tuesday died Ray Harryhausen, special effects and stop motion animation specialist, famous for his works in classical adventure films like Jason and the Argonauts (of which you can view the animated skeletons scene in one of the videos of this post).

Many of us who like role-playing games and fantasy also like classic adventure cinema as portrayed in those films where Ray Harryhausen collaborated and don't seem to age, so I suggest you not to miss the chance of viewing them, I'm sure you won't regret it.

Kickstarter of Lady Sabre & The Pirates of Ineffable Aether

And speaking of the most classic adventure I recommned to have a look to the patronage campaign of Lady Sabre & The Pirates of Ineffable Aether, a webcomic with scripts by Greg Rucka and drawn by Rick Burchett (it's also in my webcomic list) which is having a remarkable success.

Little Wars by H.G. Wells

This year is the centennial of the publishing of Little Wars, created by H.G Wells and available online from el Proyecto Gutenberg and Archive.org.

Ars Magica and Aegis

With the announcement of the upcomming publishing of the 5th edition of Ars Magica by Holocubierta Ediciones in Spain it has been publicly known the desire of recovering the Spanish fanzine Aegis, if you want to collaborate see this link (it goes to an Spanish forum).

Interesting blogs: Abro la puerta y miro and The OSR Library

And for finishing this second news delivery here here there are two role-playing blogs I'm sure you will find interesting:

Abro la puerta y miro (from Spain) focuses into the Sword and Sorcery role-playing and have adventures for Savage Worlds and La Puerta de Ishtar.

The OSR Library focuses, as the name suggests, to the OSR movement and here you will find plenty of material to expand retroclones to new areas Victorian Era, Spaghetti Western or Cthulhu Miths.
