Black Box: La Llamada de los dioses - Session 28

As always remember you may find spoilers, so if you are playing the campaign or think about playing it you probably do not want to read more beyond this point (or perhaps you want, who knows).

To write the chronicle of this session I was helped by Kris, who acted as assistant chronicler during its development.

After the events which happened in the already distant in time session #27 (I know, I have not put campaign sessions for a long time 😓) characters began to recover from the injuries suffered making use of their healing skills, making sure they would face with the best guarantees the dangers will surely lie in wait later.

Continuing exploring the tunnels they found a chamber with the ground upholstered with a yellowish mold which didn't inspire them a lot of confidence to enter and investigate it, so they decided to leave it behind and continue investigating the adjacent tunnels, reaching a crossroad worthy of an examination using Hassba's mirror while hidden in a corner. Seeing in front of them various corridors to choose from Alanna dared to enter them and noting she didn't Detect Evil she went forward until she found a door...


They got to observe the said door and tried to Detect Traps in it, something that nor Hassba, Luna or Alanna acomplished, so when Hassba touched the knob to try to open it he received a 15 damage points Electric Ray ⚡ (phew, this hurts a little 😈), but he got it and the group discovered a warehouse full of meat and beer barrels as well as fine liquors (good to know if they need them later).

After healing Hassba lost hit points the group continued exploring the tunnels at the crossroad seeing in one of them a fog at ground level which also didn't inspire them a lot of confidence, moreover Belacqua also saw something like a pair of decapitated corpses, so her uneasiness grew...

Since they didn't trust what they could find (it doesn't surprise me 😏), they decided to use some stratagem allowing them to find out if there was some danger awaiting them, so leaving aside they tried to Detect Traps (and failed) also threw a rock just in case... without anything happening. When approaching the corpses and searching them they found the following note:


Decided to continue investigating they came near a new room when Alanna Detected Evil inside, which Belacqua confirmed using the mirror to see a cleric of Penumbra and a troop of 8 orcs entrenching inside. Preparing to attack Hassba tried to Hide in Shadows (and he didn't got it 😯), so the rest of the group prepared to attack: Flynn Blessed his companions and Luna did something... because orcs fell dead, in a scene recalling other facts which happened before 😏. Then Alanna attacked the cleric and Belacqua successfully casted the Sleep spell against him, with Hassba taking advantage of it to cut his throat.


After relieving the corpses from their belongings (the gold coins 💰 which will help them to get more experience points) they followed a narrow corridor and came face to face an old acquaintance, because the evil dark elf they had been facing since they got inside the depths of the island was in front of them, but he wasn't alone because behind him also appeared a fire and smoke column (an elemental spirit) which, after taking humanoid form, he pounced on the group ready to kill them.

The combat that followed was tough and only Alanna achieved to have a moderate success attacking the elemental spirit while Belacqua, with her Fire Ball spell and Flynn praying to Valion, achieved to chase away the elf, who disappeared without trace carrying along the elemental.

After this encounter the group hurriedly got back to the provisions' warehouse they discovered before to heal their injuries and rest.

After recovering they came back to the narrow passage where they faced the elf and his fire companion and found it ends into a chamber divided in two by a crevasse with the peculiarity of a rope hanging from the ceiling over the chasm, in the wall at the end of the cave there was an opening to another cave.

Instead of venturing to jump the crevasse to see what was in the other side they decided it was better to throw a stone inisde the cave, because if inside was an enemy and it appeared they were sure it wouldn't be able to jump over the chasm to attack them 😏... Of course the outcome of this maneuver wasn't what they expected, bacause a stone giant appeared and crossed the obstacle with a jump 😂 and had to face it, luckily they managed to finish it among all.
