Some weeks after the end of the series about Personas y dados I have known about some novelties and rulesets which can be useful regarding the third installment of the series (devoted to rules you can use in your games) and I will comment in today's post, in which I will talk about the patronage of the retroclone Axis Mundi, the publishing of the superheroes game Icons in Catalan, the d12 Monthly fanzine and the ruleset Roleína Toolkit.
Crowdfunding of Axis Mundi
Publisher 77Mundos is carrying out the patronage at Verkami of the game Axis Mundi, written in Spanish by José Carlos Dominguez, which offers the possibility to all interested in creating his/her own OSR game (or compatible materials) a very extensive toolkit taking advantage of the OGL of what can be considered as the GURPS of retroclones, meaning that it will allow authors to create what they want and it will be compatible with already existing works.
Axis Mundi |
You may read first impressions of its contents in this post by Milanosfera and the interview with the 77Mundos team about the crowdfunding at this post at La Justicia Vigila. For more information you also have these videos threshing its contents, as well as the interviews about the patronage (all available at Youtube with Spanish audio):
At the time of publishing this post in the blog 3,316€ of 8,000€ had been collected (about 41%), 18 días to end the patronage and I hope they can collect the 10,500€ needed to publish it in hardback and include the contents necessary to manage battles and dominions as well as more monsters and spells (and yes, I am one of the backers and I want the book to be fully loaded 😉).
Icons superheroe game translated to Catalan
Icones - Edició Aplegada |
Maqui Edicions publishes the Catalan translation of the role-playing game Icons by Ad Infinitum Adventures. This game allows to develop role-playing sessions of your favotire superheroes or create your own universes using mechanics derived from FUDGE and FATE under the OGL, so it's possible to create derived material respecting the license terms and Steve Kenson, the game's author, also offers the ICONS Compatibility License (at the bottom of the page) to all people desiring to create products and declare them compatible with Icons.
d12 Monthly
YUM DM |
d12 Monthly |
Thanks to El Descanso del Escriba I have discovered the free fanzine d12 Monthly. Created by YUM DM inspired by the essence of the old Dragon Magazine offers interesting contents under the OGL which fans of retroclones and Dungeons & Dragons will like (in fact I think it's an excellent complement for the fanzine Vieja Escuela by grapas&mapas).
To help creating contents YUM DM also has a patreon to make donations and also accepts submissions (contact him through Twitter).
Maps appearing in the fanzine are drawn by Alex the Mapmaker (Twitter).

Roleína Toolkit by RAgames
Roleína Toolkit |
RAgames, the design studio of Roberto Alhambra (whom I interviewed in this post of 2012 when he published Siempre amanece por oriente, first novel of the trilogy La Alianza de los Tres Soles), it's beginning to bear fruit with the coming of the Roleína Toolkit, a generic, fast, easy and multipurpose role-playing system written in Spanish and inspired by games like Fate or the PbtA and offered as a free download during these first days. The game is offered under the CC BY-SA license, so it can be used freely, even commercially, crediting the author.
This entry it's also available in the following languages:
Castellano Català
